Winners of the First Annual Western Regional Design Competition (WRDC) were announced at an awards ceremony July 18 at the San Francisco Design Center. Richard Robertson was presented with the Best San Francisco Lifestyle Design Award.

Presented by the Northern California Chapter of the Interior Design Society (IDS) in association with the Western Home Furnishings Association (WHFA) and the San Francisco Design Center, the WRDC was initiated to bring recognition to the brilliant array of interior design professionals practicing in the residential field.

“This competition is not only a way to recognize the award-winning work of some of our more seasoned designers, but it's also a way to encourage and support new talent,” said Zara Stender, CID, IDS Allied ASID, Member, Color Marketing Group and President, Northern California Chapter, IDS.

The WRDC judging panel included the IDS Executive Board, seasoned industry professionals and members of the media. Special President's Choice Awards were also presented.

The Interior Design Society (IDS), a national organization founded in 1973, is the largest design organization exclusively dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry. Membership in The Interior Design Society attests commitment to excellence in the field of residential design. The IDS is based in High Point, North Carolina.
